Principal's Message

Robert Seaman Elementary School
A Message from Our Principal

Dr. Ivy A. Sherman

Dear Seaman Families,

As we embark upon a new school year, I hope the summer brought you warmth, relaxation and good times with loved ones. I am excited about the wonderful things that lie ahead for your children. Our teachers worked throughout the summer taking classes, planning instruction, and setting up classrooms so they will be ready for our students the very first day of school. The office and custodial staff could not have worked harder to prepare everything else for our opening in September. On behalf of our incredible staff, we are looking forward to continuing the tradition of excellence that has always been associated with Robert Seaman Elementary School.

At Seaman, we pride ourselves on being a “Bucket-Filling” school. Our students continuously learn and practice empathy and kindness. They know what it means to “treat others the way they want to be treated.” Robert Seaman School is a family. Our extraordinary PTA works seamlessly with our staff to create wonderful experiences for our students. The camaraderie can be felt as soon as you enter the building. Joining our family this year will be many new staff members who encompass many different roles. We are so happy to welcome each and every one along with a new class of kindergartners and their families. Part of our success is due to the strong relationships that are developed here at Seaman.

In this new era of technology and rigorous learning and content standards, it is my belief that our students can excel beyond our greatest expectations by facilitating a learning environment that is engaging and nurturing while fostering a strong sense of natural inquiry. By addressing the whole child, we can help our students develop the skills they need to be confident and life-long learners. Seaman students will think critically in order to problem-solve, tackle difficult learning material, help others, and learn the construct of responsibility in all areas.

We look forward to partnering with you to help make your child’s school experience a positive and productive one. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
